Want to
bareboat charter a sailing or motor yacht but have no sailing licence?
No
problem!
For
2005 we are proud to announce the introduction of a unique new package
that combines a week’s diploma sailing course without to lose your
holidays on a charter yacht.
Corfu
Sea School, the only Royal Yachting Association (RYA) approved sail
training centre in Western Greece, has partnered with Corfu Yachting,
one of the most reputable charter companies in the Mediterranean, to
create this new initiative.
Charter
companies, their insurers and national maritime authorities require that
at least one people on a charter yacht hold a recognised sailing
qualification. The diplomas awarded through the RYA sail training scheme
have for long been accepted as the benchmark of sailing certification.
Our
one or two week package provides a modern, fully equipped cruising yacht
of between 33 till 50 feet, together with a RYA Instructor who will
spend the week onboard with you. Up to 6 people can be accommodated on
each weekly programme. Under instruction, you will learn how to
manoeuvre, navigate and sail your yacht. Complete beginners will
undertake the Competent Crew syllabus, whilst those with some experience
will follow the Day Skipper (non-tidal) programme. Our only requirement
is that at least one person in your party has some rudimentary
experience (circa 100 miles as crew in a yacht or intermediate level
dinghy sailing). In the event that none of your party passes the Day
Skipper qualification (unlikely, as we boast an 85% pass rate) a
qualified Skipper will be provided for your second week as well.
For
the second week your Instructor will help you plan a route, advise on
weather conditions and provide some local knowledge, then it is all over
to you!
Each
package begins and ends in Gouvia Marina on the Greek island of Corfu.
From here you set sail into the
Ionian Sea, one of the best cruising areas in the
Mediterranean encompassing many of Greece’s most famous harbours and
bays including, Paxos, Kefallonia, and Ithaca. Conditions are less
boisterous than other parts of Greece and considered idyll for learning
to sail.
We
believe that this programme is ideal for families. For further
